BRIEF BLURB

 “The novel is based around the legend of Doctor Faustus (mainly Christopher Marlowe's version).  This is the legend of the German doctor and scholar who sells his soul to the devil for omnipotence.  The novel is centred on one daughter, Estella, who is celebrating what she believes is her last night of earthly life in the backroom of a restaurant/salsa dance club, 2002.  From the backroom we weave outwards the search for a solution or resolution to a life that has always seemed damned from conception, completing a tapestry of  a people/community trying to find some truth within a history that was told and owned by a liar, Mephistopheles.   This Mephistopheles being that devil, destroyer of worlds and a slave himself to Lucifer.  The novel’s style is based on the old oral tradition of the tavern or campfire tale.” Copyright lyw
