Sometimes music feels like it hits you in the
face. That’s how I felt watching the
First Seed, a.k.a. Adam Gabourie. I’ve never
had an S&M relationship, but the
First Seed delivered a taste of what
it might feel like on the receiving end.
Self described as “breakcore” or “speedcore”
beats, his particular form of musical expression
can also be characterized as bloody violent
technical meltdown.
This music is “a reflection of society at this
state in time,” Gabourie told me. [click the

Motor, aka Mr. No and Bryan Black, are jarringly
non-talkative. Maybe it was a rough night before the
day I spoke with them. Or perhaps it’s to be expected
from a group whose lyrics read like the incoherent
stutterings of a junky. “Yak,” the second track of their
debut album, Klunk (Novamute), is a case in
point: “Hey man, have you got any gak?/ It’s all wack/
It’s all wack/ Gak/ Gak/ Hey man, have you got any gak?/
You see my head’s a bit wacked/ It’s all wack/ Gak/ Gak.”

This is a series of eye opening articles written
by Apollo on the origins and development of
house music. But it goes beyond the music itself. It
will cover many aspects of the club and rave scene
from a rich and colorful personal perspective. These
articles have circled the world and may someday soon
be published.
"Like
it or not, house in the
eighties
was first and foremost a direct descendant of
disco.
Even Farley couldn’t deny that the foundation for
Chicago
house was New York
underground
disco. After all, Frankie Knuckles, the acknowledged “godfather” of
Chicago house, got his start in Manhattan, where he was spinning records in
the early ‘70s with another legendary deejay, the late Larry Levan. This
site offers an historical overview of past and present developments in
underground house music." [click the link for more info]
a great history lesson and commentary on the 12" record by
Jahsonic.com
"The modern vinyl record was launched in 1948
and is a direct descendent of the gramophone
record. This new media has several advantages
over the shellac 78RPM original gramophone
record. The 12" LP record rotates at 331/3 RPM
and has tight "microgrooves" allowing 25 minutes
of playing time per side. The vinyl material
also is quieter than the 78RPM shellac improving
greatly the signal-to-noise ratio...." [click

"It's been
ten years since the first identifiably house tracks were put
on to vinyl, ten years which have changed the technology
behind the electronic music revolution beyond recognition
but left the basic structure of house intact. It's seven
years since it was being said house couldn't last..." [click

What
is
Electromancer? It is a community of unsigned electronic musicians and a
resource where they can make their music available to visitors
and other musicians. It provides a friendly and easy-to-use
place on the world wide web where visitors, fans of electronic
music and musicians alike can come to knowing that all the music
will be electronic. As a fan and producer of retro electronica,
I started the site because I could not easily find electronic
music on the bigger, more well-known mp3 hosting sites. There
are plenty of big hosting sites around, but I found that it was
very difficult to find new music that I liked unless I knew in
advance where to look. Electromancer is different. All the music
on Electromancer is electronic (but not all Retro!) and you can
get to the music very quickly. There are no flashy
bandwidth-consuming graphics, no reams of uninteresting music
news that is represented on hundreds of other sites, no spamming
emails telling you about music you don't want to hear. There are
just hundreds of electro mp3s to stream or download free of
charge, with easy navigation and browsing facilities.
Welcome
to Discogs We're on a mission to build the biggest and most comprehensive electronic
music database. Imagine a site with discographies of all labels, all
artists, all cross-referenced. It's getting closer every day.
