Comunidade de Capoeira Angola

was formed February 2005 under the collective effort of dedicated members. Some of which were former students of Grupo De N’Golo, which was under the leadership of Mr. Jaime Brown, a practitioner Capoeira Angola for over 20 years. In Atlanta, we practice this illustrious, indigenous traditional form which was preserved by The Great Master (Mestre) Pastinha (1889-1982). It was kept alive by The Great Mestre Joao Pequeno in Salvador, Bahia & Great Mestre Joao Grande who still teaches in New York at 73 years young. From 1999 - 2001, Atlanta was blessed to be guided by Mestre Moraes who has been an Angola master for 30 yrs. Salsa On 2 and the Beat that Goes On

In the world of Latin dance, specifically the world-wild Salsa, how you hit the beat is often influenced by the one you start with, as agreed by the panel of dancers/instructors interviewed in this article.

Salsa On 2 (also known as Mambo) is a style of Salsa that has maintained a dedicated following since its heyday back in the 50’s & 60's.  Despite the strength of Los Angeles (On 1) and Cumbia styles that dominate most international Salsa outposts, there are few Salsa communities that do not cultivate some budding love for Salsa On 2, like yin into yang. The Celtic Goddess Brigid Celebrates Middle Eastern Dance

by lyw

In Wales, you can see the Celtic goddess Brigid celebrate Middle Eastern dance, popularly known as bellydancing, thanks to the growing community that has embraced this culture.  Although, adding a Celtic element to this art-form may seem a clash in cultures, there is no better tribute that a dancer can give to Middle Eastern dance than using its movements to express something personal.  This dance has a long history with as many interpretations as there are women who dance it.  Middle Eastern dance is internalized physically and emotionally by the dancer and is designed to bring out each woman’s unique passion and beauty.  [click the link for more]
